Drunk Nerds Dancing

We went to Blizzcon 2018 in Anaheim, CA.

Also, some smart guy started a huge wildfire to celebrate having a boy?

Most importantly: Peppermint Choo Choo!

New Year

hn0027 artworkWe’re snuggin’ it on this, the latest episode of Hyper Nonsense! We recount what we did during Christmas and how we got an Apple TV and Jen got a “new” computer. We cover our trip to Santa Barbara for our bankruptcy hearing. We talk about what we did on New Year’s Eve and we finish up the show by responding to some listener feedback.

Covetous Jen

hn0023 artworkWe’re going caffeine-free! Well, one of us is. And it’s making life… interesting. We cover our trip to BlizzCon 2014, where we attended the World of Podcasts event, met lots of cool people, attended Diablo panels and more. Jen even got to be part of the Tristram’s Got Talent contest, where she got to show off her voice-acting chops for some of the voice actors from the Diablo III video game. We’ve also got an update on the bank-fraud shenanigans that have been ongoing for the last couple months.

Not-Best Of

HN classic logoIt’s a very special episode of Hyper Nonsense! We’re currently at Blizzcon 2014 but the pods keep rollin’. We’ve got a compilation show for you, made of clips from the original version of Hyper Nonsense. We talk about how good customer service is like sex. I share some stories about meeting crazy people in public and how abandoned clothing items are probably portkeys. Then, we revisit a news story about a radio DJ who quit her job in a colorful way, while she was on the air.

jflkafjalf:

  • We’ll have this down to a science by episode 250.
  • Hyper Nonsense: It’s a verbal bullet train that’s probably gonna end up in a wreck.
  • This lab ain’t no lemonade stand.
  • Listening to an iPod: It’s a statement to the world that says, “Please don’t talk to me.”
  • There’s a secret shoe-exchange society that leaves pairs of shoes in specific places.
  • Whatever happened to Inetta the Moodsetta?
  • If you’d like to help us out, buy us a Target e-gift card and send it to our e-mail address (below).
  • Thanks to Matt Sams for providing us with some cool music beds.

The iThing

hn0020 artworkWe’re Yosemite’ing it on today’s episode! Sometimes, audio mixers are complicated and the buttons don’t always work like you’d expect (and we spend way too much time breaking down why). We’ve officially changed our format to a tech show. We hope you enjoy all of the Apple talk! We have (not much of) an update on our legal situation. We cover the saga of a defective air purifier we recently purchased. Also, after installing an aerial TV antenna, we’ve got a whopping 17 channels. Now we’re constantly distracted by TV shows. We finished the show with a news item about a haunted house with a real, scary dead guy.

Heatwave

It’s hot! So hot we had to abandon our usual recording studio for the (almost) comfortable confines of another room that had some leftover A-C in the air. It’s been an interesting (i.e. frustrating) week for us in terms of technology. But the good news is that Jen has room again on her MacBook Air hard drive! Apple dropped¬†an iOS update and broke everything. The weirdness with fraudulent activity on our bank account continues. This time in the form of an unexpected credit. Also, Bluetooth pairing has become the most complicated thing computers do now. We read an iTunes review and then that was pretty much it.

iWon’t Pay

hn0014 artworkJust in time for this week to not be over, it’s our latest podisode! We recount our (mostly uneventful) memories of ¬†the September 11th attacks, including the fact that we moved in together that week. We give our thoughts on the big Apple shindig (and its seriously buggy live stream) that went down earlier this week. (iPhone 6? Apple Watch? Meh…) Hear about our exciting adventure in troubleshooting a leaky faucet! And then… scanning and shredding 21 months worth of documents! We also went over some listener feedback and talk about how a disappointed billionaire won’t be able to carve California into six individual states. And more!

A 10,000-word treatise:

Getting Tingly With Matt Sams

hn0012 artworkWe’ve got an exciting episode for you! Not only are we Starbuckin’ it, but we have our first-ever guest for this iteration of our ongoing pod project. It’s Matt Sams, also known as Somnistatic. Matt has undertaken an ambitious song-a-day project for the year 2014. He’s recording a new song every day and releasing it online. As of this recording, Matt is on song number 239. He’s just about 75% of the way there and he hasn’t missed one day! During the interview, we discuss Matt’s songwriting inspiration/process. We talk about marketing and “making it” as a creative person in the Internet age. We meander thru a couple fun digressions and we play a couple of Matt’s songs.

Un-Live

hn0006 artworkWe’re not live but we’re also not dead. We’re un-live and we’re preparing for an exciting trip to Las Vegas! But we decided to make a pod before we leave. Tech problems, we got ’em (again). Apple’s conspiracy against us continues! We have now soundproofed our closet so we can use it as a vocal booth. We recently celebrated my birthday, which included a nice dinner and airplanes. We responded to some listener comments. Jen wants to see shipping containers and pretty lights in Vegas. I want to go to the mob museum. Nobody wants to see Carrot Top or Criss Angel: Mindfreak.
