Seems a bit on the quiet side, more gain pleaze…

Really? Then something was definitely off. I kept hearing distortion in my headphones and was turning things down. Will have to do a more extensive sound check next time. And by “extensive sound check,” I mean, actually doing a sound check.

I haven’t finished listening to the episode yet but the first bit about Cambria sounded ok on my iPod.

I’m downloading direct to my G1 with Beyondpod for android so the file is as is, I think itunes can do some gain adjustments, it’s half the volume of erkpod for me, fine in a quite room with volume on max but not on the bus.
anyway back to the show…

I found it a bit quiet too.
I prefer night, because I can get more done.
Blade Runner is a cool film, but it doesn’t deserve the collective fangasm it’s accumulated over the years.

I originally loaded this page on my browser almost 10 hours ago to reply to Paul’s last comment. But it was taking forever to load and I had to leave for work.
I’ll pay more attention to the levels next time. Also, Paul, is this a recurring problem or was it only with this episode?

For me the quietness issue was just for this episode.

The episode was pretty quiet for me also. I had to crank my iPhone up all the way to hear it while I was outside walking. This is the only episode I ever had any volume issues with.
I was curious about the Nabaztag & the possibility of maybe picking one up cheap on eBay if they take the servers down, so I took a look around. Here’s what I found. Nabaztalk.com is back up, there are a few open source projects that might allow you to hack the bunny, run your own server and get at least some functionality back up and maybe a few different features. So, hope is alive that Vanya will keep talking and I might even get one of my own for a little less money. That’s the only way I’ll be able to talk Talli into it right now. I’ve bought a few gadgets lately, so not much left in the budget for a bunny right now.
And I prefer night. It’s cooler, quieter and a bit mysterious. Plus I get a lot more work done then. And getting to my anti-spam word, that’s pretty much the only time I drink booze. And by drink booze, I mean have a glass of wine or Porto (Port wine).
The Jack Daniels story was a little sad because my first drink at 21 was a Jack & Coke. It was mostly Coke to be honest, but I could definitely taste the JD. And when I had it, that guy was definitely the one in charge. He probably even tasted it to make sure it was just right, so that I had to add almost a liter of Coke to a shot of JD to be able to drink it…

Audio: It was uber quiet on my portable speaker on my train as others have mentioned. Normally it is fine.
Slam Book: I prefer night as well. I’d much rather do the afternoon/late afternoon shifts that I am doing now. I hate going to bed earlier than a little kid to get up early for work. Super. Duper. Early. Mornings. Do. Not. Want.
Bunny: I hope that something can be sorted for our Bunnies. I’ve just found someone else here in Sydney that owns a bunny too at a tweetup last week which was quite cool. I joked that our bunnies should get married as should we. We’d be on a Mac-free island somewhere with lots of wifi in peace. I am actually going to trial turning my Bunny’s news feeds off for a while as they are somewhat hard to understand. I do love her smart arsed comments, though!

Partly HN related, you’ll be able to hear Shawno & Jen on episode 30a and 30b of Blast From The Past on Saturday 22 & 29 of August as well as episode 33 of Erk FM on Friday 21 August.
Also, I’ve been busy coding (Erk’s version of coding – tinker, save and hope for the best!) and I’ve sorted out my comments leaderboard as well as putting an audio player on my site. I figured out that the previous leaderboard was set to reset monthly and the figures were monthly, not for all time. Most people would not have bothered going into the code which was the only way I could do it. So it is set for yearly now and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that positions 1 and 2 on *my* leaderboard are held by Shawno and Jen (but at the time of writing, Jen is actually ahead of Shawno by 2 comments).

If you’re using the same plugin that we are, you can actually set it to go back to the beginning of your site(s) and never reset. That’s how ours is done.

I didn’t notice this one being quieter than any others. As far as the Slam Book is concerned, I am a day person. Based on the comments and the show I may be the only one. I usually go to bed between 9 and 10 every night and wake up between 6 and 7 in the morning unless I’m working and then I wake up at 5:30.

Hi Guys, Thanks for another great show.
When I first got cable TV many years ago it was virtually ad free except for the retransmission of the free to air channels. Unfortunately as the years ave gone by and the companies have become money hungry the ads have increased to almost just as many as free to air TV. So we disconnected it as we didn’t want to pay to watch ads.
When it comes to updating technology in my house the buck stops with mrs squeak. I am one like you Shawno who likes to look at all the latest tech and build a wish list.
The process generally goes like this -
Squeak sees item advertised -
Squeak Mentions it in conversation with mrs squeak to test the water and get an initial reaction -
Squeak then researches the items builds up a good case to win over mrs squeak -
Squeak then places case to mrs squeak to receive the funds to purchase the items if approved -
Squeak generally gets NO!!! lol
Mrs Squeak hears – Blah blah blah blah blah New item blah blah blah $400 Blah blah blah Mrs Squeak says NO.
I may win sometimes but it is now very rare, but never the less I will never give up trying.
i also get excited about hotel rooms mainly because I can watch cable TV which we don’t have at home anymore. I do make full use of all the facilities at the hotel where ever we stay, after all I am paying for them.
I really hope Nabaztag can pull through, we don’t want a quiet bunny! The show would be a little less challenging for you guys. If she does go quiet how is Jen going to score all the Bunny Thai chi points
Oh yeh as for the audio it was a little soft but you’ve addressed all the issues in the next show and heaps better!!!
Thanks again!
