A caper is actually the bud of a plant, so you were right that it is neither a legume or a nut. They’re definitely an acquired taste.
I’ve been to France, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Tunisia and the US on holiday. I went to Italy by coach so I also stopped off in Switzerland on the way.

Glad you enjoyed that missed connection. After seeing that, I had to send it in. It was just too bizarre. I was guessing she was using craigslist as a place to show how ridiculous she thought guys like that were. My only question was…what’s up with that picture? How does that play into the whole thing.
Ok, now a list of every country I’ve been to? My parents are from Europe, we have family there, my dad worked for United for 30+ years and I used to fly 100k miles a year for work, so my list is a little longer than some people. I’ve been to Canada, Mexico, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Israel, China, Costa Rica, Peru, Bahamas. I’ve also been to the UK, but really that was just to hop a bus from Heathrow to Gatwick, so I don’t really count it.

I don’t have a Kindle, but I have the Kindle for iPhone app and I’m pretty certain it works the same way. When you buy an e-book from Amazon it wirelessly sends the book to your device through something they call “Whispersync” technology. That is probably how they could take the book back. I find it ironic that the book was 1984 since DRM is pretty much a Big Brother tactic. I heard on TWiT that the reason the book was taken back was that the publisher somehow didn’t secure the proper rights for the book. It is still somewhat mystifying to me why they would take back a book people bought. Orwell doesn’t fall under Public Domain since he published after 1923. Apple has the same technology to “kill” or remove apps from your iPhone if they ever decided to, but thankfully they haven’t used it yet.
About where I’ve been out of the country: I’ve been to Juarez, Mexico outside of El Paso, TX and Ciudad Acuña outside of Del Rio, TX so border towns in Mexico. I’ve also been to Victoria, British Columbia, Canadia. Never overseas yet, but maybe someday.

Did you know that you can buy Lipton ice tea? It’s cheaper than Pepsi and tastes a whole lot better.
I recently
downloadedwatched this movie called Ghosts of Mars, it’s basically a sci-fi zombie movie so I’m sure Jen will love it since she like weird films. And they don’t get any weirder than this one. Or maybe she’s seen it already.Did I ever leave the country ? Yes, I’ve lived in Canadia, the U.S. and Australia and I’ve been to the U.K., Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, and Indonesia. I also went to Germany by mistake, there’s no clear border between The Netherlands and Germany so it’s easy to get lost.

Hi,
There are so many ebooks around, it makes me wonder why people dont just upload epub format books to the kindle/iphone.
I have Stanza, which is a really good ebook reader on the iphone – when I do run out of podcasts/videos on the train I resort to ebook.
I used to use the Palm Pilot to read ebooks about 6 years ago and am very used to it. If I could replace all my paper books to ebooks, then I would be very happy.

I have a suggestion for the contest… When you start getting submissions you should post them on facebook so we can all share it with all our friends. if we can write a little about the Drangaroo and the contest and what hypernonsense is all about, you will be able to attract new listeners.
The only place I have been outside of the country is London. We saw as many of the sites in the city as we could. We also went to Windsor Castle and Stonehenge. It was a great trip.

Shawno, I found the chicken. It’s in Vegas.
And Jen’s right, you don’t need to ask what countries I’ve been to.

Oh, they can get weirder. If you’ve never seen Forbidden Zone — well, that’s about as weird as films can get! This film starred the late Hervé Jean-Pierre Villechaize (also known as “Tattoo” from the 70s TV show Fantasy Island) and featured Danny Elfman and the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. It’s black and white and was rated X when it was released back in the 70s or very early 80s, but wouldn’t be considered X by today’s standards. Seriously, you see some titties but that’s it. I think the film may have been rated X simply because they didn’t know what to make of this film!

BTW sincerest apologies for my use of the term “titties”. It probably sounds really immature and I don’t intend to be offensive.
July 29th, 2009 at 7:54 am
Harold, I’ve seen Forbidden Zone and it is indeed a very weird movie. I saw it because I was into the film scores of Danny Elfman. I tried Oingo Boingo and Elfman’s solo record at the time and it was a little too avant-garde for me. My favorite part in the movie though is Danny Elfman playing the devil in hell and doing his cover of Cab Calloway’s Minnie the Moocher.
July 29th, 2009 at 10:12 am
That film was directed by Danny Elfman’s brother Richard Elfman, by the way. Yes, the music is quite different — I can’t get some of those songs out of my head sometimes! (BTW you might want to search YouTube for a video of Danny Elfman and the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo’s appearance on the Gong Show sometime in the 70s.)

I have seen the “Ghosts of Mars” movie! Forgot about that one, but, I really liked it. Zombies in space! Well, sorta.
Never heard of the Forbidden Zone movie, though.

I was just about to listen to this episode of Hyper Nonsense when I realized it had disappeared from my music player!
I suspect Shawno decided to edit out some “titties” references, and sent out a wireless signal that “recalled” all the mp3 files.
Did I miss anything?
@kturet
Mood: titties
July 30th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
No, no — there’s no reason to think that Shawno or Jen would edit out the “titties”. I’m just hung up on titties, is all.
July 31st, 2009 at 12:06 am
For your information, Harold — if that’s your real name — I did not find a single “titties” reference in this entire episode of Hyper Nonsense.
Thus, I can only conclude that Shawno did in fact edit out all the “titties” references — probably because you made such a stink about them!
From now on, ix-nay on the itties-tay. Get me?
@kturet
Mood: booze

I can assure you that Hyper Nonsense is indeed pro-titty.
July 31st, 2009 at 10:44 am
I assure you, Ken, that is my real name. Why wouldn’t it be? Nevermind, don’t tell me, I’ve heard them all before.
So waitaminute, Shawno — why aren’t there more mentions of titties in the program?

Apparently facebook breaches Australia’s privacy laws as well – the legal folks are in discussion with fb about that… will be interesting to see what happens.
