I’m just 10 minutes into listening to the show, but I wanted to respond to your iPod Touch comments and the maps. I don’t know why the iPhone wasn’t working in the store because the iPhone has built in GPS. The iPod Touch works by WiFi Triangulation through a company called Skyhook Wireless. You can enter in your address at http://www.skyhookwireless.com and add it to their directory. That’s what I had to do when I first got my first gen iPod Touch and location services wouldn’t work. Second, your question about built-in maps, Alex Lindsay on MacBreak Weekly was talking about an app called g-map for iPhone. There is one for the Eastern US and one for the Western US. It is a little expensive at $24.99 each for Eastern US and Western US, but it puts maps on your device without having to use a wireless connection.

Thanks for the information, Nathan.

I had to laugh to myself yesterday when all of the iPhoneofiles rejoiced over getting a Skype app because I’ve had Skype on my N95 since day 1. And *my* Skype works over both 3G and wi-fi.
Then I thought “if Shawno’s around a wifi hot spot and had an iPod Touch, there is his Ghetto iPhone.” Then I was listening to Geek News Central last night and there is a device coming via Verizon called a Mifi which is a credit card sized device that allows you to have your own wi-fi bubble around you. Combine that with an iPod Touch and there is Shawno’s Ghetto iPhone.”
Or maybe I’m just on my spam word (drugs)?

Batman was a very cool movie. Here in the UK they actually reformed the film rating system just for that film. Before Batman there was U (Universal), PG (Parental Guidance), 15 (No under 15’s) & 18 (No under 18’s). For Batman they created a new rating, 12 (No under 12’s). Since I was 11 when it came out it remains the only film I’ve seen in the cinema ilegally. Interestingly the last film that changed the rating system was the first Spiderman. They modified the 12 rating to 12A (No under 12’s without an adult).
G.I. Joe should be well into post-production by now. I believe that was one of the films that spent a ridiculous amount of money for a Superbowl ad. Since G.I. Joe never really made it across the Atlantic it’s not a film I’m particularly excited about.
Yay! As The Type Moves! Protected Butt Sex? WTF? Of course Unprotected Butt Sex knocks people up every day.
Who the f*#@ follows Courtney love on twitter?
Actually that tank story comes from the North of England. It’s pronounced KES-ick too. That guy is just whole piles of dumb.

Interesting idea about the MiFi, Erk. Hadn’t heard of that before. Unfortunately, if the Verizon-branded device comes out with Verizon’s current data plans, you’d only save about $10.00/month over AT&T. And for that small amount of savings, it’d make more sense to just get an iPhone.

Man, Courtney Love gets a lot of attention. Does she even make music anymore? I know that she’s famous to briefly being married to Cobain, but come on. He’s been dead longer than they were together. Does she still get to be famous for that? Especially since marriages amongst the famous rarely last the length of time he’s been dead. Of course, if she wasn’t able to live off her fame, I guess we’d all probably be paying for her food stamps. Is she going to come after me now? Probably say something like “David stupid crazy is lying b$^#%rd no knows s^*t.” And then probably something that makes even less sense. And then follow that up with some threat of bodily harm. I can hardly wait. I’ll be internet famous! I’d probably play it up into a full scale internet war though. More fun than a lawsuit.

The problem with that Dave is that she would then become more ‘famous’ for abusing a minor internet celebrity and the whole sorry circle would start again.

I like the Courtneys Love. I even liked her last record (came out in like 2004). She’s allegedly been recording an album for like the last year or so. But she’s incapable of avoiding the tabloid bullshit, so that’s where the focus always is with her.
