Don’t quit, Shawno! Hyper-nonsense must endure! Your comments are perceptive and Jen is a towering presence! Thanks for the good word. Caw! Caw!

I know how you feel Shawno. I’ve been thinking the same thing lately since I’ve been working more regularly. I’m going to try to keep going, and I hope both of you decide to keep going as well. I enjoy your show and the beauty of RSS is that whenever there is a show it downloads to iTunes so don’t worry about missing a week.
Loved Frost/Nixon. I believe Frank Langella was in the Broadway stage version as well. He was fantastic and I was hoping he would win the Oscar. Sean Penn won instead. The play version is coming to San Antonio in April and I’m hoping to go check it out. I don’t know how anyone could beat Langella’s performance though.
Really liking this season of Lost also. It has taken a whole new turn from where it started. I like how they are revealing more answers than they have in the past even though the whole show is still shrouded in mystery.
Interesting idea about pairing the iPod Touch with another phone to get a data connection wherever you go. That would be nice. It would also be nice if more cities got ubiquitous WiMax or wireless coverage throughout the whole city. I think Baltimore is the only city that has it now.

I had heard that Google wants to buy the rights to the frequencies that would be left over after the DTV switchover, and use them to create free national wireless broadband. That’d make a device like an iPod Touch extremely useful. I’m gonna keep an eye on the Boost Mobile/iPod Touch Bluetooth situation over the next few months (stuck with AT&T until July, anyway) and see if anything develops.
And Hyper Nonsense isn’t going anywhere, so no worries there.

You guys not podcasting would be like Jen not cussing or drinking, and we all know she’s not gonna stop doing that any time soon. I tried to censor this show once, you know, putting those bleeps in but it’s just too much fucking work.
I watched episode 3 of Dollhouse after hearing you talk about it and yeah, it ain’t all that. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t have the same “je ne sais quoi” Buffy had. Eliza Dushku looks amazing, i didn’t know they made jeans that tight, but that would be my main reason to watch it.
Weird that you remembered Xander being a carpenter, but didn’t mention that Willow went lesbian. That was the friggin’ highlight of the entire series.
Oh, damn yous Erkpod for taking my 1st place on the leaderboard!

Numbers, schmumbers. Keep podcasting if you enjoy doing it. If you wanted more numbers you could always get it. You guys have a great show. But, think about how many people would get on you if you missed a show. Think about all the pressure!
Seriously though, keep up the great work and keep podcasting. I’m a semi-new listener. It’s got to be less than 6 months. So, you do get new listeners. Besides, feedburner’s numbers….they suck. I don’t pay any attention to them. They were always off for me. It’s part of that garbage algorithm nonsense that Google is always into. They don’t understand that subscribers work better with arithmetic. If 300 people download every week, you have 300 subscribers. They try to get all fancy and the numbers are always wrong, but on the low side. Just ignore them.

SIR David Frost is a national treasure. At the time of the events of ‘Frost/Nixon’ he was more-or-less just a talk show host, but he wasn’t always that. In the early ’60s he was at the forefront of the satire revolution here in the UK and his shows ‘The Frost Report’ and ‘That Was The Week That Was’ were essential political/comedic viewing. Most of the Monty Python crew were writers on ‘The Frost Report’. In the ’90s and early ’00s he had the premier political discussion programme on the BBC and he regularly had exclusive interviews with major British politicians. He currently works for Al Jazeera rather bizarrely.
Both Frank Langella and Michael Sheen were in the stage version. Langella did one of the best takes on Dracula I’ve ever seen in a movie.
I am a HUGE Buffy/Whedon fan, but I’m slightly worried by Dollhouse. It sounds like the kind of premise that I wouldn’t watch if it wasn’t Whedon and nothing you said allays my fears. However I have faith that the first few episodes are setting up the scenario and soon the Whedon-esque touches we’ve come to love will soon appear. It still doesn’t have a broadcast date here dammit!
Prepare to be schooled about Dr. Who. You are correct Shawno, in the original show the time war didn’t happen and The Doctor was not the last surviving Time Lord. What Russell T. Davies (the showrunner) did for the new series was take the majority of the mythology from the old series and add on his own flourishes. He did a genius balancing act of keeping the old (and incredibly rabid) fans happy while still adding new stuff in. He also didn’t go the Battlestar Galactica route by making everything dark, gloomy and gritty. Here in the UK the show is on at about 7pm on a Saturday, so it definitely had to be kid friendly. He didn’t go all the way kiddie though and ‘The Empty Child’ is one of the creepiest 45 minutes of TV I’ve ever seen. *are you my mummy?* It’s interesting that you like Billie Piper as Rose. The old (and incredibly rabid) fans were horrified when she was cast. She was famous as a teeny-pop singer and was not at all known as an actress. I must admit I was very dubious about her casting as well. However she completely changed everyone’s mind. She was bloody brilliant. Basically what I am saying is Russell T. Davies is a God Like Genius. So far either the companion or The Doctor has changed for each of the 4 series so far. Series 1 Christopher Ecclestone & Billie Piper, Series 2 David Tennant & Piper, Series 3 Tennant & Freema Agyeman, Series 4 Tennant & Catherine Tate and Series 5 will have Matt Smith & An as yet uncast companion. It’s really frustrating that they are taking a year off with only 4 special episodes dotted through the year. We won’t get to see Smith as The Doctor until this time next year. As Davies is also leaving this year there will be a new showrunner as well. Stephen Moffatt who wrote ‘The Empty Child’ and most of the other really creepy episodes.
Accepted scholarship about Atlantis nowadays says that Plato was just making it all up as an allegory. If a lunatic thinks he’s found it off Africa he’s lying.

Urrrgh! Spam word is Chillaxin
Australasia is also known as Oceania. The term was coined by a Frenchman in the 1750s. It covers the countries Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and surrounding Pacific Islands.
DO NOT GIVE UP PODCASTING! ‘NUFF SAID!
I grew up with Doctor Who. My parents quite happily tell everyone that as a small child, I was totally terrified by the Daleks. “Exterminate!” The one thing that Russell T. Davis has changed is the Cybermen. When the cybermen were first appeared they fired “guns” from the top of their heads and then as they “developed” they had hand held guns. They also had one weakness. Gold. A gold object only needed to penetrate or make contact with a cyberman chest piece and they were goners! With the current Cybermen, they have no such weakness. They also have the background story of being the creation of John Cybus of Cybus Industries. However with the Daleks, he hasn’t changed much at all and even old Davros shows up.
Billie Piper surprised me too. I remember her from her teenie-bopper days too. *cringe* But she is becoming quite an accomplished actress.
Colin don’t forget “Blink” that was a rather creepy too!
I’ll be posting you Doctor Who Series 3 & 4 (plus Christmas Specials) and Torchwood Series 1 & 2 (complete with man love. LOL!) this month.
Happy to educate anytime. Education is fun!

Oranjepedia: I wasn’t forgetting ‘Blink’. That is definitely the creepiest episode of Dr. Who ever and Moffatt’s finest moment. I just didn’t want to confuse them with an episode from Series 3.

When I heard Shawno say about thinking of not doing the podcast, I thought of this ad where the catchphrase is “No, Gary, No”. I was thinking “No, Shawno, No!”

It’s for a quit smoking product. It even spawned a second commercial.

More Hyper and more Nonsense, please!

What’s this about Hyper Nonsense being cancelled?
I would like to organize an e-mail campaign to save the show, even though the networks tend to laugh these things off.
Does anyone have Adam Curry’s e-mail address?

Going back to an earlier discussion. I’m not sure if this qualifies as a ‘bad’ cover, but it’s certainly weird.

I’m OK with that cover, Colin.
