That video is just creepy - and to advertise chocolate eggs (ie easter) before Festivus is just plain wrong. I thought advertising easter on new years here in the uk a few years ago was bad enough!
I’m halfway through listening to the show. Good stuff so far. Thank you for plugging my shows. There are actually two more to mention. There is the one on books called Lott’s Thoughts on Literature. I started a new one just last week at a completely different site because it is a totally different kind of podcast. It is the Elementary Music Podcast at http://musiced.libsyn.com. Glad y’all had a nice Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the review of Twilight. I downloaded the book from Audible.com after seeing Jen’s review on Book Sandwich and other sources. I haven’t started listening to it yet, but by the time I do complete it, hopefully the movie will be out on video so I can rent it. Speaking of novels, I can’t wait to read Lans’ book also. I heard the excerpt you played on his podcast as well and it sounds fantastic. Good show as always.
I hate the chocolate! American chocolate doesn’t even taste like real chocolate, there’s way too much sugar and other crap in it. If Hersey wants to sell their stuff in Europe they’d probably have to call it “cocao fantasy”, that’s how bad it is.
Shawno, an URTI (upper respiratory tract infection) is not a nice thing to have, as I’m sure you will attest to. A couple of years ago I was getting an URTI every 3 or so months. Generally speaking they’re not the viral type of infection. As for antibiotics, they’re not all the same. They each target different types of infections. Some are broad spectrum others are more specific. Unless you have a sputum culture taken and know exactly what the bug is, it’s a little hit and miss as to whihc antibiotic is the right one. Personally I’d fill the script as soon as you get it. This waiting for a few days, is in my opinion, useless.
I have to agree with Dave. US chocolate barely tastes like chocolate and does have loads of needless crap in it. I like Aussie chocolate, but the Europeans are undisputed world champion chocolatiers.
Should I still get the script filled, even now, Tim? It’s been 1.5 weeks since I saw my doctor.
Are you still feeling crap Shawno? Then you probably should. If you’re feelig markedly better, then save your money.
I agree, Hersheys is NOT the best chocolate out there. Learned this when I visited the UK, and found out what good chocolate tasted like.
How can chocolate from the Chocolate Nation be bad?
I thought the difference between US and European chocolate was just a matter of taste, American food in general is more sweet tasting, but it’s also the result of different rules. In the US you can call something chocolate if it has 15% cocoa butter in it, in the Europes it’s 35%. So that’s probably why Hershey bars taste like floorwax.
Thanks for the Jen and the zombie nipple story, now I gotta find a way to explain to my girlfriend why I was staring at Jen’s boobs on Flickr for 20 minutes.
Hey Jen, joined you on the Round Table and found your site. Good to meet you!
G’day guys! I’m glad to hear you back on HN. As you know I’ve been listening to Inside Shawno’s Headgram but it’s not the same as listening to both of you together on HN.
I’m glad that I could finally get you on Echo and also on Round Table 11. I know what a difficult month you’ve had.
If I get that song in my head as an earworm, I’ll ask Ben the Podcast Trader if he could haunt you on my behalf!
As we spoke about on the RT, we don’t get Twlight until mid December down under and people wonder why there is movie piracy! Not that I’m going to rush out and get the movie but if you are a fan and someone you knew had a copy, you’d want to get your hands on it, wouldn’t you? If you were a massive fan, you’d get the illegal copy and then probably still go to see the movie when it came out anyway!
The 2-hour mark is broken! And you didn’t even have the excuse of a guest…
I managed to release 11 specific NaPodPoMo shows, which added to the 3 ‘regular’ shows I did 14 consecutive days of podcasting. The offer of hosting help was appreciated, but the other concern was actually finding time to record the shows on a daily basis.
It was really cool to hear your cameo in the novel. Is it wrong that I hope you die…
I’m with Dave on American ‘chocolate’. The last time I was in the US I brought back some Hershey’s Kisses as a treat for the family, and the dogs ended up eating most of them. They tasted like cat pee.
Did the dogs die, Colin? I’ve always heard they weren’t supposed to have chocolate. Even our inferior American chocolate.
Love how you led the show off with Spatula City from UHF. I always loved that piece. It’s just classic Weird Al.
Also very cool listening to the excerpt from the novel you’re featured in. Very cool. Only two words: Blunt trauma.
Now your character needs to stay alive. Otherwise, there’s no chance that the movie adaptation will get a sequel. You can’t kill a star like that and have the sequel succeed…
