Dunno if you got you i{hone desires met but I wanted to add that I use the T-Mobile Shadow and love it. Good for everything I need it to do.

I have seen the Cuesta Ridge Boys (one of my buddies attends church with a guy in the band) and I liked them a lot. Being a folk musician I adore local bluegrass and celtic bands. As for the Shamblers, I've heard them and while they are entertaining I don't see them rising any higher than a Farmer's Market or Country Faire type band. They just don't have that "oomph" that any serious venue could say "Hey ... we could consistently pack a house with these guys". If the singer feels anywhere near the same way I do about the band then I would't blame him for wanting to try to make it somewhere else.

My g/f & I just got my monthly bill; we're on some type of shared/family plan. We have so many unused minutes that we currently have 1500 accumulated rollovers. Those have been accumulated for so long that our provider is actually expiring the minutes that are 12 months old; this month, 150 of those accumulated minutes were expired. We're considering switching to those pay-as-you-go phones.

I do own a cell phone (or since I'm British a mobile), but the only times I ever use it are to check whether my weekly night out with the lads is still on or to phone home to see if there's anything anyone wants while I'm in town. I could definitely live without my mobile, but for those brief moments they are useful.

Just to clarify: It wasn't just that they didn't like books: they didn't find pleasure in reading, which is what boggles my mind. One of these friends spends a great deal of time playing consoles games and WoW and watching movies. To each his own -- I love films and play games, too. But the phone seems to be a solution to boredom for some people, for people who have trouble being with themselves, contemplating or considering or reading without the assistance of some kind of extra-activity.

For males, it's an addiction to gadgets. To females, it's an addiction to chattering. It boggles the mind, though. I've actually had friends tell me they don't like books. They don't like *books*? No wonder they talk talk talk all day on the phone; where else are you going to find a portable story?

Can anyone tell me what's so cool about the iPhone, or cell phones in general? They're probably usefull in an emergency, but most of you "oh i gotta stay in touch" idiots just cause emergencies. Pay attention to traffic and talk to grandma when you're at home. This whole thing is getting outta hand, even most stay-at-home moms i know have cell phones, what is that, fidgety? Are cell phones 21st century cigarettes?

F.Y.I.: I do not own a cell phone.

I'm with Erk and Orange Tim: Nokia's the way to go. I'm a longtime MacAddict, too, but I'm not seeing the price of the device realistically matching its capabilities. I mean, I'm in love with the idea of portablility, and love being able to send message and check my email and listen to 'Net radio while on the go: but I can do all of that with my E62. I *was* in love with the idea of surfing the web in its fully glory -- and the Symbian OS running on my Nokia has the best browser available for this -- but I'd still rather surf on a larger screen. The smallest I think I'd really be will to go with for mobile browsing is a device like the EEE series by Asus, which are smaller laptops with long-running batteries and less limitations than browsing on a phone presents.
