Del Monte, is that the place across from the train station, Diana? I've walked by there many times but never gone in.

And The Velvet Underground rules. Though, my favorite album of theirs is the self-titled one with "Pale Blue Eyes" on it. In other words, not one of their "cool" records.

I am fairly shocked that you thought was Louisa's Place was a restaurant like Big Sky! It was the dinner place to be when I was in high school. I like the breakfast at Del Monte better, French toast with cream cheese inside! HEll yes! Also Seaside Cafe in Shell Beach is great too.

Dating a vegetarian means that I haven't been to McDonalds in a while either. It doesn't fill you up because the food is full of empty calories, just like your mom told you!

France has a union fore everything because they are commies.

Hi Matt! Every time I go up to SF I think, I should contact Matt! He would enjoy running around with me and my buds drinking up Clement St. But then I have no contact information for you. It is sad. : ( So you should email me your email! dctedone@gmail.com.

Also, my computer is radiating pretentiousness from The Velvet Underground CD it is playing right now.

But yes, In-N-Out shakes DO trump everything!

Writing comments while listening to the show is fun!

Greetings from Down Under!

This is the first episode that I've downloaded and now I'm downloading back to episode 99.5 (I'm presuming there is a story there that I will learn about later).

I didn't think of Shamrock shakes because it was the first time I've heard of them. Besides, sometimes I have enough trouble getting a chocolate shake from McD's!

Re the dollar, 1 US dollar equals around 90 Australian cents. It has improved (for me!) from a low a few months ago of around 60 Australian cents.

I am sure that the lack of availability of Shamrock Shakes is not only directly related to the coming of the End Times, but I think the root cause of it.

I am not sure if I am ashamed or proud, but a Shamrock Shake has never passed my lips.

Well I can honestly say that I visited three- yes, THREE – different McDonald's here in the bay area on St. Patrick's Day and was met by clueless stares at each one when I brought up the Shamrock Shake. Not “no, we're out”, or “no, we don't have them”, just expressions that suggested I was even crazy for asking. Maybe they were on to something...hmmmmm. So, NO they are not easy to find. I hadn't actually thought about getting one for several years and it just came to me a few days before this SPD that I would should try to track one down. Easier said than done! After I got back to the flat from my futile trip, I checked the Internet to see if I was the only one having problems finding the elusive Shamrock Shake. Low and behold there is a wealth of websites chronicling the difficulties of one getting their hands on the shake. I won't go into a lot of details because its there for those who want to read up on it, but suffice to say people all over the country are looking and many are coming up empty handed. On the flip side, there are also stories of people just strolling into their local McDonald's and having no trouble whatsoever ordering and enjoying the Shamrock Shake. Most sites I visited recommended calling local stores in advance in order to ascertain whether or not they actually had them in stock. So they are out there, but not so easy to find depending on where you are I guess. Its funny because it would appear that the McDonald's website doesn't even acknowledge their existence. The whole thing has a very “under the counter” sort of feel to it. Jenn I agree that they are maybe hoping to get more business based on word of mouth and growing hype about the shake and its borderline mythic status, but if the official site hardly mentions it then it kind of contradicts that...right? The fact that the employees I asked did not seem to be well versed about the shake suggests that they aren't letting their own people in on the secret(or they were just very good at playing clueless), whatever the case may be. I guess, in the end, they did get my money because at each place I did order something off the dollar menu so I wouldn't look like I just came in there for something they didn't have. Anyway, I'm not sure what to think because the employee at the McDonald's in SLO obviously knew what it was and they were obviously, for a time, selling it there. The whole thing is a mess of contradictions! Oh, and I did also find some of the original Shamrock Shake adds on youtube, some of which were worth a laugh – mostly because Grimmace's uncle is a walking, talking Irish stereotype.

After all that, I do believe Paul Robert's recipe is right. Its really simple and not much to it despite all the brouhaha. Okay enough about the shake already.

Montana de Oro is a beautiful place with some great scenes and some good hiking, but people need to be careful there. For one thing, yeah that road that leads to it is winding and there is not a lot of margin for error when another car comes racing around the bend. At least there are a few places to pull over. Its also not the kindda place I would want to hang out after dark...if people do that, I have seen evidence of bonfires on the beach but who knows. Anyway I think staying around there late at night is like inviting something out of Zodiac to happen to you. It was the fall before last I believe when three Cal Poly students were swept off some rocks there one day and only two of them made it back. Don't know or remember all the details but I don't think they found the third boy even after an extensive search and rescue attempt, so people do need to be mindful of what they are doing there.

BTW Hannah Montana sounds like a pornstar name anyway. Besides we all know that DEBBIE GIBSON pwnes all those other those other female teen stars. She actually wrote and produced her songs. Can't say that about Tiffany now can you? In any case Debbie was hotter than all those others to begin with. Did I just type that?

I do have some thoughts on the whole hooker situation but that is another can of worms. Great show guys, and LOOK you kept it under 90 minutes! Thanks for the computer help Shawn. Peace
