Several of us tried to call you on your live show 1/11 but something was wrong with your Skype connection. Alas.
Thanks for turning me on to All Things Azeroth. Shawno, get with it man. You can’t have a level 85 Fireball, ya n00b. Jen, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you play Alliance. Why, oh why, would you do that? Because they look pretty? Horde4lyf. Lol. I play on Hyjal and my two 70s are an Orc Hunter and an Undead Rogue.
I wanted to respond to your comment on HIS show about cheating. I will admit that my wife and I purchased gold for WoW a long time ago, long before the expansion came out. Back then it wasn’t as easy to earn money. Trust me on that one. You had to devote oodles of time to grinding in order to make up a few gold and that wasn’t why we played Warcraft. Grinding is “teh suk”. Well we both wanted our level 60 Epic Mount but were having no luck scrounging up the 1000g each to buy it (1000g is very easy to come across nowadays but not pre-BC). We caved in and bought 2000g so we could experience a part of the game that we otherwise never would have. Buying gold for some people is less cheating than it is trying to keep up with a monetary system that Blizzard has unfairly biased toward those that can play for 7 hours a day grinding or farming mats. I hope this makes sense.
Teacher Marc,
I started playing WOW with Alliance characters mostly because my brother was playing WOW, and all his characters were Alliance. But then, he quit playing before I really even got started, which sucked, because part of why I decided to play Alliance was because I wanted to be able to play with him sometimes. Sux!
So, anyway, there I was, with a little teeny alliance character. And then, one day, that server was full, so I ended up making a second alliance character. Got each one to about level 8, (teeny, I know), and then the expansion came out, and I decided to make a draeni character because it sounded cool. That’s the character I play most often now, on Lightbringer, (where a friend of mine plays, also with Alliance characters).
Then, I started listening to Medros “All Things Azeroth” podcast, and learned that he plays Alliance too, so I made another little character on Argent Dawn, the server he plays on, (in part because of a contest he had on his podcast, that I didn’t end up entering).
Right now, I might delete the two characters I made when I started, because I haven’t played either one in a really long time. I have been considering making a Horde character, just to see what that’s like. If so, I will make one on Hyjal, where you are at. Not ready to do that just yet, but I will let ya know if I do it.
As far as the comment I made on Medros show about buying gold = cheating…
I will take your word for it, that it used to be much harder to earn gold before the expansion. I started playing WOW right before the expansion, and my comment wasn’t about anything previous to that expansion, because that is not part of my experience. I will concede that buying gold before the expansion wasn’t cheating, if the in game economy was that skewed. But, if Blizzard fixed that problem with the expansion, and earning gold is so much easier now, then to me, someone buying gold for whatever reason now, instead of just playing the game to get it, is cheating. Just my opinion.
zomg.
