It’s New Years! And we were live on Internet as 2008 rolled in. In this episode, we talk about technical problems, “emancipated” women, a political mix-up, a fake dead dad and more. We also field a Skype call from our a loyal listener. And, oh yeah. Jen’s drunk again.

This was the first episode of your show other than a few of the NAPODPOMO stuff I’ve listened to. Entertaining show. I liked your topics such as the horrible example of parenting showed in the Hanna Montana story. I am now subscribed.
Welcome to the party, Nathan!
Sorry I missed you guys - 8 hour time difference. Next time guys.
No time to watch the live show either guys, sorry ’bout that. We had the weirdest new year’s eve ever, very dense fog with visibility down to about 2 ft. — i felt like a legally blind person going for a walk at night in San Luis Obispo.
Totally off-topic: any o’ yous know how to pronounce Anne Heche? Is it “Hesh” or “Haysh” ?
I’ve usually heard it pronounced like “Haysh,” Dave.
That’s what i thought Shawno, “Haysh”, but almost all European TV announcers call her “Hesh”, probably ’cause it sounds French. (was the subject of one of those useless discussions during the holidays)
About the visibility in my previous comment: It was 2 meters, that’s 6 ft. Metric can be confusing.
Happy New Year! I was asleep by 11pm so there was not way I could tune in. It was a fun show to call into.
Hey, here’s something unusual for you to think about. My 33 year old brother just enlisted in the Army. 33!!!
Me, too… asleep by 11:30 p.m. Yuma time. And to think, I downloaded Skype just to participate. I’ll watch your ‘Live’ page for a next opportunity… ft
Well its nice to see that none of our New Year’s resolutions have come true – so far. Seems to usually be the case anyway. HOWEVER, you both can still come up to San Francisco and hang out. I’m not much of a tour guide but I’m sure I could point out a few fun things to do. I think a few years ago I made a resolution not to make any for New Year’s….at least that gives me something to not screw up.
Anyway I decided to listen to this drunk cast about a month into being sober. Let me tell you: sobriety sucks. Life is pretty mundane without the booze, so I give Jenn props for going on a quest to get some. This time I could tell you were drunk – but not THAT drunk. Seemed to have the whole happy/tipsy thing going on there, but it didn’t come across too bad. Shawn held it down like he always does so there were no troubles. Can’t fault you though Jenn, I know I was pretty trashed that night too. I wasn’t drinking J.D. Though.
Its nice to see that Hannah Montana was a big subject on this show even before I started listening. Messed up story no doubt, but then again if she(the child) is a fan of Hannah then who knows WHAT the rest of the family is capable of. Just a thought. Where is this supposedly dead father anyway? Did he get concert tickets too?…..maybe to see Nickelback or whatever. I guess both acts would be equally tortuous to sit through while sober, so I’d just ask someone to flip a coin…..or shoot me.
Hey if you are planning any upcoming live shows give me a heads up. I would love to call in all doped up on ambien (since it can’t be alcohol) and proceed to totally take over and hijack the show with my nonsensical ramblings. Perhaps by doing that I will make up for all the New Year’s resolutions that I had failed at throughout the years.
Can’t believe its this far into 2008. I think a lot of that has to do with me, but in general, its flying by. Pretty scary. Well lets hope the second half of this year holds some nice surprises for us(I really do). Peace out!
Great comment (as always), Matt. If you haven’t already, you should sign up to our e-mail list. We always send out an e-mail notice before live shows. Of course, any time you’re here in SLO, you’re welcome to come over and be a guest on the show that way, too.
And yeah, New Year’s resolutions are pretty dumb. Instead of deciding that your going to magically fix everything in your life on January 1st, why not just start today, or any other day? And 2008 is turning out to be pretty good so far, at least for me, anyway.
