   Do you guys really think that this show would be better if you did this for a living? May sound great, but the problem with Podshow is that some of the people that joined and gave up their dayjob ended up with a stripped down version of Adam Curry’s life. They talk for a living but don’t have the cash to do the things Adam Curry does. And because they don’t have a “real” job/life anymore it’s really hard to relate to the things they talk about. (except for Dawn and Drew, they never had a life to begin with) I loved Yeast Radio, Madge Weinstein was doin things nobody else did but now it’s going nowhere. The reason i stopped contributing wasn’t because of no stupid fight or nothing, i realized that i was spending a lot of time making stuff for a lazy person with no talent. If you’re gettin’ paid, put in the extra time and make your own damn content.

   What would happen if people like Madge Weinstein or Dawn and Drew actually had talent? Right, big media companies like Clear Channel or Viacom would have hired them like ABC did Amanda Congdon. But that never happened and probably never will.

   Can you explain a little more, to a daft brit?
   I am with Podshow - and I carry sponsorship, which gives me a certain amount of money. It’s not enough to live on, but it’s a welcome addition to the Cutler coffers.
   If Podshow offered me enough money to live on - I’d still do my show AND do my day job because nothing in this world is certain.
   I’ve been podcasting for almost 3 years - one of the oldest in the UK, and it’s still a hobby. Podshow is a springboard for me - my content or regularity has not changed. I’ve met Adam Curry at the Podshow HQ in London, and I scared him - he’s not the global power everyone thinks he is. Nice guy though, a good head on his shoulders.
   I admire Shawn and Jen if their decision is to try and make a go of Phantom Power Media - hell commercials and interviews and studios and things like that do not grow on trees. With the kit they have they could become an NPR studio for their local area, whatever they want it to be. Good luck to them. I wish I had the bollocks to do the same.

   You’re right, my comment is negative times two, maybe three. I also met Adam Curry, i even helped him out with MP3 encoding when he started out. He’s a nice guy ‘n all but there’s something about him that bothers me, or maybe it’s Podshow, i dunno. Or his wife…

   I have to admit i didn’t know that Podshow sponsored shows, i thought they only “bought” people so maybe they’re not as evil as i think they are. But podcasting started out as an alternative for or even against the “old” media, but sometimes i can’t hear the difference between a podcast and Crazy Ray on 97.9 WLUP in Chicago.

   Guess what i’m trying to say is if you podcasters don’t stay on top of things there will be an alternative to podcasting sooner than you think.

   I’m not worried about Shawno and Jen though, HN-NPR sounds cool! Just don’t get caught in the LOOP…

   Boy George lives not too far away from me in London, if I got a fashion, or even a charity shop to hang it up in the window…..mmmm……

   I agree with Dave. Most of these “Bud and Shirley” shows are crap.

   It’s only Shawno’s dry humor and his wife’s patient acceptance of his dietary habits that make this show work — at all.

   I liked that Jonathan Coulton song about the robot. It puts me in mind to start my own “Song A Year” joint. But don’t hold me to that.
