Why don’t ya let Jen talk about guys jerking off to Cali Lewis? I’m sure that would attract a whole new… weird… perverted… audience… Never mind.

I was thinking about the “Buenos Noches Mecixo” thing. Jen, is it possible that non-native Spanish speakers attempt to say words in Spanish out of respect for the language and culture? I know you and Shawno say “don’t try” if you can’t do it, but as a teacher I stress the importance of correct pronunciation to my students and really jump on their case when they mispronounce Spanish words … and I’m a History teacher. Ok … maybe attempting the accent is wrong, but let’s not nay-say the respectful attempt to correctly prounounce a word (think about how the locals pronounce Paso Robles … it kills me). Mucho Love-o el Show-o!

Teacher Marc,
It kills me the way people pronounce Spanish place names out here too! Sometimes, they are telling me the name of a town, and I have no idea what they are talking about until they spell it. It’s that bad.
I used to teach English to Spanish speaking kids, and Spanish to English speaking kids. My view is that if you want to show respect, take the time to learn the language. Or, at least to get a phrase pronounced correctly. Spanglish is not respecting anyone. In my experience, people who start a sentence in one language, and then throw in a word from another language, don’t get respected by the native speakers. It’s usually taken as if you were trying to make fun of them when you do it that way, at least in the neighborhood I grew up in. See you at work?

Hello Shanow and Jen,
Please don’t be sad, you know that you have a looootttt of listener, including the ones from foreigner countries like Mexico.
It’s sad the issue that happened with Miss Universe at Cancun in Mexico. I agree with you Shanow, the president of USA it’s not the most popular that your country have had.
At my point of view that doesn’t justify what happened in that contest, to be honest, Miss USA has nothing to do with the political issues of the world. It’s like if you hated Mexico because of Taco Bell (Taco Bell it’s not a Mexican Franchise and got almost nothing to do with a real Mexican Taco)….
Taking about other stuff, I will send you some audio comments to help you with your pronunciation in Spanish (This also can work as a birthday gift for Jen) if you help me with my English, in order to never be embarrassed when we have to say some Spanish, and in my case English phrase in public.
You know that I love your show and i am always looking forward to hear next podcast.
Every body had notice your great improvements Shanow in the format of the show and in this new site.
Keep on going the good work and never surrender.
Su amigo de Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula) with an American like last name.
Rich Heisinger
By the way if you want to improve your Spanish please hear Radio Bong show.
Saludos
Bye

Congratulations on one year of fine, fine podcasting, Shawno and Jen!
Having been here (in one form or another) since Ep 1, I’ve gotta give you my highest compliments. You sound great, you keep your audience entertained and engaged, and you keep it real without — as so many podcasters do — trying to be pale imitations of shock jocks.
Keep up the great work! ft
