I use my iRiver to record Skype from the Mac. I use the line in/out cable that came with the iRiver, plug it into the headphone/speaker jack and use the line in recording mode on the iRiver. I don’t know what is different between my iBook G3 and the computer you’re using though.
That’s actually a good idea, Andy. Unfortunately, Skype won’t work AT ALL with my G4 Mac Mini, ’cause the Mini itself has no audio-in capabilities. I get audio into the machine via our Alesis Firewire mixer. And apparently, Skype won’t work with Firewire gear. (At least, not on a Mac.) So, I’m going to see what I can rig up through Jen’s eMac, as it has an audio line-in, and I believe Skype will work with that. The trick is going to be getting all of the audio between the two computers to play nice together without creating a feedback loop. We’ll see how it goes.
Ah, ok. I think I see what you’re trying to do, record the entire show including clips without having to edit afterwards. I record the audio onto my iRiver and then add in whatever clips or sounds later. On Windows there is a program called TunesUp which lets you play sound clips through Skype. I haven’t saw anything that does that for the Mac yet, although Madge was playing with some software the other day that seemed to let her do it. Will be interested in what you come up with.
